A Different Kind of Momentum

Agent MXM, Company Update

An Agent MXM Update

The 2026 Lunar New Year this month marked a shift from the introspective Year of the Wood Snake to the energetic Year of the Horse.
The Snake is often associated with reflection, strategy and quiet growth. A year of shedding what no longer fits and building wisdom beneath the surface.
The Horse represents something different; momentum, forward movement, and the confidence to act.
Whether you follow the zodiac or not, the symbolism felt timely.
In just a few days, we’ll celebrate our first year at Agent MXM. A year of laying foundations. Planning carefully. Refining what we stand for and how we support agents. And as the lunar year turned towards action, two experienced estate agents got in touch and decided to take that first step into self-employment.
Not impulsively. Not dramatically. But decisively.
When the timing feels right, you act.

More About Josh

Josh is our first new agent this month.
An experienced estate agent in Middleton, he reached a point many good agents eventually reach; he wanted to offer more.
More consistency. More personal service. More control over how his clients experience the buying and selling process.
For Josh, the move into self-employment wasn’t about walking away from something. It was about stepping towards a better way of doing what he already does well.
He knows his market. He understands his clients. What he wanted was the structure and backing to deliver at the level he believes they deserve.

More About Dani

Dani joins us with experience across multiple areas of the industry.
She’s worked in different environments. Learned what works and what doesn’t. Now, she’s choosing to focus her energy closer to home, concentrating on selling property in Nantwich.
For Dani, this step is about alignment. Aligning her experience with her local knowledge. Aligning her ambition with her lifestyle.
Aligning the service she offers with the standard she believes in.
Self-employment gives her the space to specialise, to deepen her presence in her area, and to build something that reflects her values rather than fitting inside someone else’s framework.

What We’re Noticing

When experienced agents consider going self-employed, the conversation rarely starts with commission percentages.
It usually starts with questions like:

“Can I actually do this on my own?”
“What happens if the pipeline dips?”
“Will I miss the team environment?”
“Am I ready?”

The reality is, most good agents are far more ready than they think. What they don’t need is hype. They need structure. They need honest mentoring. They need someone in their corner who isn’t selling them a dream but helping them build something real. That’s the part we focus on.

The Early Days

Launching a self-employed agent isn’t about flicking a switch and posting a logo.
It’s refining their positioning. Clarifying their market. Mapping their first 90 days. Having the conversations they’ve probably avoided for years.
The new agents who’ve joined us this month aren’t trying to become everything to everyone.
They’re narrowing their focus.
Leaning into their strengths.
Building foundations that are steady rather than dramatic.
And that’s exactly how it should be.

Why This Matters

There’s a lot of noise around self-employment in estate agency.
Big numbers. Big claims. Big promises.
But what we’re seeing, and what February has reinforced, is that the agents who succeed long term are the ones who move decisively.
They ask questions.
They prepare properly.
They surround themselves with the right support.
They back themselves and they do it for the right reasons.

Looking Ahead

We continue to have conversations with agents who are exploring what their next chapter might look like — whether that’s in 3 months or 3 years.
Some are ready.
Some are just curious.
Both are welcome here.
There’s no urgency. Just honest dialogue.
If February has shown us anything, it’s that when the right people make the move at the right time, the momentum feels steady — not stressful.
And that’s exactly the kind of growth we’re interested in.

Your February Takeaway

If you’re feeling the nudge towards change, even slightly, don’t ignore it.
You don’t need to act on it immediately. But you should explore it.

Ask yourself:

What am I tolerating that I don’t need to?
What would better look like for me?
Who could I talk to without being sold to?

Clarity doesn’t come from scrolling. It comes from conversation.
We’ll continue protecting that space, for our current agents and for those considering what might be next.
